Disneyland

We had a really fun time in Disneyland this year. The weather was perfect. Ty and McKinlee had so much fun together this year. McKinlee was so excited to see Minnie, she is her favorite. Ty was on an autograph quest and filled his book and lots of times he would just take McKinlee's for her. She didn't like all the characters or wasn't in a mood when we would see one. All in all we had a really great time.

San Diego

We spent a day in San Diego while we were in California. We parked on the pier and were able to do some different things there. Theses are some of the sculptures in the area that honor the military.

This group is to honor Bob Hope for all that he did for the troops.

We went on a tour of the USS Midway Museum. The Midway is an aircraft carrier that had been made into a museum. The Midway was in service for 47 years until decommissioned and now is a permanent museum in San Diego. What a history this ship has, we really enjoyed it.

Ty & McKinlee trying out the cockpit.

Here are some pictures from the Harbor Excursion that we took. We toured the North and South San Diego Harbors and learned a lot about the military operations in San Diego and some of the history of the city.

The bridge to Coronado.

Sea Lions

We even had dolphins riding the boats wake. Ty and McKinlee loved the dolphins, there was a small hole in the front of the boat and the had a perfect view of them.

We ended the day at the Coronado Beach. We had fun playing in the water and sand. We had a really fun day seeing some of the sights in San Diego.

San Diego Zoo

We went to the San Diego Zoo for a day during our trip. We saw lots of different animals that we don't have at our zoo. Ty liked the flamingos the best, since he decided on his way to California that his new favorite color was pink. McKinlee got pretty excited when she saw the bears and was growling at them. It was pretty fun, but it was a really hot day. We were glad the stroller fit on the sky tram at the end of the day.

The giant pandas were neat to see.

Coronado Island

After we left the zoo, we wanted to go to the beach. We decided to go to Coronado Island because it was close and we love the bridge. The sun was setting when we got there. It was really pretty. I took some pictures out of the window as we were going over the bridge. We about had the beach to ourselves, it was really nice. This is looking back at San Diego.

California 2008

We had such a fun time in Disneyland this year. It was the perfect time to visit. There were hardly any lines at all and the weather was almost perfect. It was a little hot the first few days.

We rented a nerdy mini van and drove down with Brenda and Melinda. The van was quite comfortable to ride in (thanks to the bucket seats in the middle row), but it was very noisy in the front seats...thanks to the roof bag. Oh well, we needed it for the stroller on the way down and it was packed full on the way home.

Ty was finally tall enough to ride most the fun rides. His favorite ride was Splash Mountain, we rode it so many times. He rode it at least twice everyday. There was always someone willing to sit out with McKinlee so he could go again. He really liked them all except for the Matterhorn. He had watched "A Day in Disneyland" too many times before we left and knew that the abominable snowman was in the ride. He loved all the other rides.

McKinlee was really cute with the characters. She was not nervous about them like Ty was, she wanted to hug and kiss them.

I think the highlight of Disneyland was breakfast in the park with Minnie and friends at the Plaza Inn. It was a great way to see the characters and the food was really good too. We will have to make this a tradition of every trip.

With only a few major and a few more minor "incidents", we got along pretty well for spending eight days together.

The kids were good in the van, they had fun

with Melinda & Brenda entertaining them for the long ride.

We stopped at the park in Washington for lunch on the way.
