All About Me
It was Ty's turn to be spotlighted at preschool this week. We made a poster of some of the things he likes to do. His poster gets to hang on the wall in his class. He was pretty excited about taking it to his class for the other kids to see.

Why Carve Pumpkins?
The story of the Jack o'Lantern comes from Irish folklore. Jack was a crafty farmer who tricked the Devil into climbing a tall tree. When the Devil reached the highest branch, Jack carved a large cross in the trunk, making it impossible for the Devil to climb down. In exchange for help getting out of the tree, the Devil promised never to tempt Jack with evil again. When Jack died, he was turned away from Heaven for his sins and turned away from Hell because of his trickery. Condemned to wander the Earth without rest, Jack carved out one of his turnips, took an ember from the devil, and used it for a lantern to light his way. He became known as "Jack of the Lantern."
Ty brought the pumpkins back to the porch for carving.
He has been playing with them in the yard this week. Melinda
and Brenda came to our house to carve pumpkins with us.

Darren's Elk
Darren shot this elk yesterday. Ty thinks it is pretty cool, McKinlee was not quite so sure about it. Good shot Darren.

Cornbelly's
We took the kids to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point a few weeks ago. There was lots of fun activities for the kids. We went on a bumpy wagon ride through the pumpkin patch and one of the workers thought that Darren was supposed to be our tractor driver...It was funny. The kids (and Darren) rode the cow train. Ty had a blast and did not want to leave, we may end up going again.
